As we approach the last quarter of 2025 we wanted to give a brief finance update.

It’s always worth remembering that these figures and updates are just a small part of the great things God’s doing in and around Hunter Bible Church. This year we’ve seen over 40 people give their lives to Christ so far. We’ve seen God work through us as we gather in Growth Groups and encourage each other. We’ve seen people trained and equipped to serve Jesus. Such great things going on.

So what about financially?

Here’s three key points at this stage of the year.

  1. We’re ever so slightly ahead of forecast

Our Income (General Giving, Program Income and Other Income) is about 0.4% ahead of our forecast, and our expenses are under forecast about the same amount. So we’re nearly 1% better off than we’d forecast overall.

  2. We’re still forecasting a deficit this year and next year

The long term plan was always that - after several years of strong surpluses - we’d have several years of deficits as we moved into Garden Suburb and the City. 2025 will be the first of those years, with a planned deficit of about $280k by the end of December.

  3. There are more people giving than ever before

As far as the finance team can tell, August saw the highest number of unique donation IDs we’ve ever seen. Praise God! This seems to indicate that as a church family, more and more people are taking the step of sharing the financial load of our church together.

What’s all this mean? It’s just another reason to pray with thanks and requests. Pray with thanks to God for people’s generous and faithful hearts. Thank God for all the exciting and important gospel work that happens because of this money. And pray for more; pray that more HBC people would give regularly and generously. Pray that God would give more people to Jesus and grow us to be more like him.

As always, please get in touch if you have any questions about finances around Hunter Bible Church.
