The Winter Internship is a 6-week ministry training experience designed for members of Hunter Bible Church.
With the new UON calendar leaving a gap for many Uni students, we don't want you to waste the break, but use it to get equipped. Invest in six weeks and continue being trained for a lifetime of ministry. Through a mix of theological training, ministry equipping, and hands-on projects - in community. You'll grow in:
Character and godliness
Conviction for the gospel
Competence in ministry skills
Commitment to God's mission through the local church
Whether you're exploring full-time ministry or simply want to make your life count for Jesus, don’t drift through midyear. Be equipped to keep serving Jesus

Key Components of the Winter Internship
The Winter Internship has five key elements:
1. Theological Training
Interns will grow in their knowledge of God’s word by enrolling in Moore College’s ‘Preliminary Theological Certificate’ (PTC).
Introduction to the Bible - Biblical Theology #1
“Biblical Theology 1: Introduction to the Bible shows how the great themes of the Bible fit together into one story that spans both the Old and New Testaments. At the centre of the story is, of course, Jesus, and this unit shows how God planned to redeem his people, which begins with promises to Abraham and continues through the fortunes of the nation of Israel, reaching its climax at the cross.”
The PTC has 10 units of “lessons”. Each week of the internship runs two lessons.
Here is a sample lesson.
There is a mandatory exam which will be held during week 6 of the internship
2. Ministry Training & Skills
Dave Moore and some of the other pastors will take you through some of the core theological convictions & values that shape and drive the way we serve Jesus and make disciples
You will build skills in how to build ministries, lead others, and make disciples
2 hours per week
3. Ministry Project
Interns would be assigned a short-term ministry project. Ministry project might include things like:
Kootingal Mini-mission
Pupil Free Day Kids Program
Youth One-Off Friday Night Project
Kids Team Writing Coalition + Scripture Assemblies
Unichurch Launch 2.0
4. Peer Groups Mentoring
Interns will be placed in small groups led by an experienced ministry leader, where they can debrief, reflect, pray, grow, chat about the future, and encourage each other in living for Jesus
5. Community + Fun
Throughout the six weeks, there will also be a bunch of meals, dinners, and hangouts where, as a group, we can have some fun and enjoy building deeper relationships.
