Hey, I’m Mel! and from December 2025 to the end of 2027, I’ll be doing a full-time ministry apprenticeship (MTS) with Hunter Bible Church.
I’ve been working as a Radiographer and Sonographer since 2008, and I’ve really valued the opportunity that career has given me to care for people in a practical way. But as I’ve grown older, God has been challenging me to think deeply about how I’m spending my life — and whether the second half of it should look the same as the first.
For many years, I’ve loved serving in ministry alongside full-time work, but often felt there wasn’t enough time or energy to give it my best. I was challenged by the idea of giving God my “first fruits,” not just what’s left over — so I’ve decided to take these two years to slow down, spend more time in God’s Word, invest in people, and serve with the best of my time and energy.
Through MTS, I’m hoping to work out what it looks like to serve God with my whole life. As a single person, I’m thankful for the freedom this season brings to focus wholly on Him, and I’m excited (and a little nervous!) about this big change — stepping away from a senior role in my profession to become a student again.

Prayer Points
Thank God for His kindness in giving me this opportunity to serve Him full-time.
Pray that I’ll adjust well to this new season and trust God deeply through the transition.
Ask that I’d grow in humility as I learn from those God has placed over me.
Pray for faith to trust God with my finances and future.
Pray that MTS would be a time of growing in love and knowledge of Jesus, and that I would serve our church family and the people of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie faithfully.
Pray that God would use me to help others come to know the hope and life found only in Jesus.
