Where God’s Justice & Mercy meet. The most significant moment in the history of the world. The ultimate sacrifice of the ultimate saviour. Five days. One conference. You, your church family and God’s Word.
See what’s happening in the life of our church
For anyone at church interested in growing in character, conviction and competency in ministry.
Each semester, HBC:Train offers three weeks of topical seminars on a range of theology and doctrine, and eight weeks of a ministry course of your choice.
After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you, for you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”
John 17:1-5
Our lives aren’t ultimately about building our own name, but about reflecting God’s glory in everything we do. When we see that, every part of life becomes part of the same mission Jesus had: bringing glory to the Father. What could that look like for you…?
Get equipped and trained for a lifetime of serving Jesus! Join us for this info night on MTS apprenticeships and Harvest Leadership to explore ministry training and leadership opportunities.
As a church, we’re committed to training up and sending out gospel workers to the world. We're also committed to developing ministry leaders for the Kingdom right here in the Hunter.
MTS is a two-year, full-time apprenticeship geared for those intending to serve the wider Kingdom beyond Newcastle and Lake Mac. MTS offers rigorous and comprehensive training and guidance under our staff team to prepare gospel workers for leadership roles in ministry.
Harvest Leadership is a part-time volunteer ministry leadership program designed for those planning to stick around Newcastle and Lake Mac long-term. It involves 1:1 mentoring, group training, on-the-ground ministry leadership, and provides invaluable hands-on ministry experience.
So, whether you're looking to stay in Newcastle long-term or be sent out to serve the wider Kingdom, there's a program for you to get the training and experience you need.
Join us for this info night on Wednesday 27th May at the HBC Garden Suburb campus to learn more and see under the hood of these programs.
Jesus is the king of Tanzania
Our good friends and Mission partners Mike and Katie Taylor will be sharing with us their experiences as gospel workers in Tanzania. This will be a great chance to hear from them, pray for them, and enourage them in their ministry.
Dinner will be available from 7pm if you’re hanging around after HBC Train.

What does practical, gritty, messy love look like?
Sometimes there are topics we’d love to wade into, but just don’t get the time on a Sunday - that’s why we have Big Ideas Nights. This time, we will be unpacking what the bible has to say about Christian care, practical love, and how we might use our lives to love those around us.

You’re invited to another unmissable weekend. Come forge new friendships, strengthen existing relationships and deepen your love of God.
Whether you’ve been following Jesus for years, or just curious this weekend is for you.
This year we will dig into the topic, Designed for Connection: God, Love, and Relationships. Expect hard hitting talks, deep chats and loads of fun.
Check out our FAQ’s and last year’s timetable below to get an idea of what you’ll get up to!
If something happens and you need to reach us, you can reach out to one of the following contacts:
Nathaniel Dean (senior boys leader): 0423 458 402
Cassie Smith (senior girls leader): 0466 976 897
As with Youth Weekend Away, it’s best to leave your phone at home - you will need to leave it in your bag during most of the camp and won’t be allowed to use it during sessions, seminars, or games.
Bring a Paper Bible and a Pen!
Cabins are for RESTING and SLEEPING - not hanging out, unless a leader gives you permission otherwise.
We know finances are tight for many this year. If the cost is going to be a barrier to your youth coming along please shoot us an email at youth@hunterbiblechurch.org
You can let us know about any special requirements in the relevant section of the rego form.
We’d love for you to come to as much of the weekend as possible but we understand this may not be possible for everyone. Reach out to us at youth@hunterbiblechurch.org to chat about your options.
Going away for a whole weekend with lots of people you don’t know can be scary. If your youth is feeling extra anxious, reach out to us at youth@hunterbiblechurch.org. We’d love to chat about some ways we can support you and your youth to ease some of those anxieties.
Yes! You’ll be asked if you need a lift or can give one when filling out the rego form. We’ll keep you posted on how this will work closer to the date.
Check out last year’s timetable for an idea of what to expect
MTS Mission Minded Newcastle will gather people from the Central Coast to the Northern Tablelands to think about how the gospel will shape our futures and prayers.
There’ll be four main sessions with Tim Baldwin (Anchor Church, Coffs Harbour), plus you’ll get assigned a mentor to talk through your future plans, and you’ll get time in a peer group with people in a similar stage of thinking and life.
There’ll be time to reflect, and we’ll have some great meals together, meeting people from all over NSW.
Thursday 24th - Saturday 26th September 2026
10 Reserved Rd, Garden Suburb.

Compassion Australia is our long-time partner who has been faithfully releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name for decades. We love the work of Compassion because they understand that everyone's most dire need is to know Jesus. Each year, we celebrate Compassion Sunday right across our church family at different times. This week at church, we’ll celebrate Compassion Sunday together.
Why not take this opportunity to look into who Compassion is, and spend some time praying about how you might be able to partner with them to release kids from poverty in Jesus' name?
