Newy pm weekend away - Why

As a church we want to be a people who live with Jesus at the center of our lives. Newy pm Weekend Away  is an opportunity to spend time with one another and sit under the transformational power of God's Word and Spirit.

We are praying that God would use this weekend to have a remarkable impact on our hearts in partnership with one another as we focus on rethinking ourselves in the light of the Gospel of Christ.

Feedback from Previous years

"Really good. Well planned, organised and centred around Jesus. Loved the talks they were really challenging."

"Nailed it. Super conference. Lots of people, great vibe, lots of laughs (what???), great conversations, great kids program that freed up parents. Talks were the highlight."

Where + When

FRIDAY 27th - SUNDAY 29th April

It would be great to start planning ahead for the Friday afternoon to try and get down there and be ready for the first session.

Our whole PM family!

From ages 0-100+. There will be a full kids program and team to teach our kids and help parents manage the weekend.

What will be happening over the weekend?

Five huge sessions looking at what it means to be ADOPTED. We might think of ourselves as saved, redeemed, forgiven and justified... But how often do we think of ourselves as adopted by the one who created and rules the universe? To be right with God is good news, but to be loved and cared for by God the Father is greater... At Newy pm Weekend Away we are going to be digging into the biblical concept of adoption and looking at what it means for our lives.

Separate seminar for men and women to be challenged and encouraged to rethink practical applications of the Gospel.

Stacks of free-time to RELAX, RE-CHARGE & RELATE to one another as we build unity and fellowship in our PM family. There will be opportunity to grab a coffee, have a yarn and catch-up, beat that mate at 500, sit around the camp-fire and/or play some backyard sport.

L-T Hopper

L-T is married to Belinda and they have three children. He studied for his Bachelor of Theology at Sydney Missionary and Bible College. On graduating, he worked as youth minister, then pastored a congregation at Christ Church, Gladesville. He started as the Senior Pastor of Lakeshore in 2007. He grew up in a Christian family but came to understand that Christ died for him as a teenager. L-T goes cycling with mates a few mornings a week and enjoys a good coffee. He'll stay up all hours to watch the Tour de France.

The costs are set as low as possible. Included: All accommodation, all food (breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner & supper) and a full kids team/program. (Please note kids 0-2: are free).

We don't want finances to be an issue for anyone or stop people from missing out on such a fantastic weekend. The benefit of a weekend away like this for our whole church family at PM will be well worth the financial costs. For those of you who might struggle financially - please let us know at or touch base with one of the pastors.

Here is our plan...

We have 270 beds, 48 rooms to accommodate roughly 70 family units (this includes: families, married couples without kids and singles). A common room contains 6 beds (bunks) and an ensuite. There is also 10 rooms of lodge accommodation. These include: 4x Double, Bunk, Single & Ensuite | 4x Twin & Ensuite | 2x Double, Single & Ensuite. The lodge style accommodation costs $15 extra per adult / per night and will be prioritised for people who may need this type of set-up.

Our goal is to accommodate and love everyone from families with a couple of kids, to couples and singles. We understand that people can have different ideas of how to be comfortable during a weekend away together. That's why all room placements will be discussed extensively with every family & individual.

This will mean some people have the option to have more room to themselves, so that as a church family we can be loving people who might have particular health or social concerns. For example, a couple or someone with social concerns might prefer the twin room lodge style accommodation. That's fine! We're happy to help out with any concerns; whether it be more comfortable for you to share a room only with people you know, of if there is trouble with finances.

What’s the plan for the kids?

For those who attend RUSH & YOUTH on Friday arvo/evening we are still working out what it will look like for this crew. No matter what though we are planning for all adults to be able to make it for the first session down at Toukley Friday night (without having to travel back to Newcastle).

There will also be Kids Team Leaders who will lead and run the entire kids program over the weekend. During the night sessions these guys will be monitoring kids who have already been put to bed, putting kids to bed at certain times (as per parents request), running activities for those kids who are still awake (there will also be a crying room hooked up to the audio for those parents who want to stay with their child and listen to the talks). Saturday and Sunday mornings these teams will be running a full four hour block full of Bible Teaching, fellowship and fun activities.

What should I do now?

Pray: That God would use this weekend away to help us drag Jesus back to the centre of our lives and grow together as a family of believers at PM.

Chat: If you're not sure or have any questions let any of the pastors know.

Be available: save the date of April 27-29. Take it off work, check the family holiday doesn't clash.
