Why have a weekend away?
As a church we want to be a people who live with Jesus at the center of our lives. This weekend away is an opportunity to spend time with one another and sit under the transformational power of God's Word and Spirit.
We are praying that God would use this weekend to have a remarkable impact on our hearts in partnership with one another as we focus on rethinking ourselves in the light of the Gospel of Christ.
Feedback from Previous weekend aways
Loren Newell -
"Loved meeting people who I see every week but never properly meet. Lots of "yeh I've seen you around but never actually met you" conversations.Really well organised, great vibe, loved it!"
Anthony Allen -
"Nailed it. Super conference. Lots of people, great vibe, lots of laughs (what???), great conversations, great kids program that freed up parents. Talks were the highlight."
Where and When
LUTANDA TOUKLEY (The next lake south)
FRIDAY 17th - SUNDAY 19th May
It would be great to start planning ahead for the Friday afternoon to try and get down there and be ready for the first session.
Our whole HBC:LakeMac family!
From ages 0-100+. There will be a full kids program and team to teach our kids God's Word.
What will be happening over the weekend?
Five encouraging sessions focused on rethinking ourselves in light of the Gospel, whether we are Christian or non Christian. Our lives can be defined by opposition to the Gospel, or shaped by our submission to it. This is a great opportunity to take stock of ourselves as we stare into the Gospel to make sense of ourselves.
A seminar to be challenged and encouraged to rethink practical applications of the Gospel.
Stacks of free-time to RELAX, RE-CHARGE & RELATE to one another as we build unity and fellowship in our LakeMac family. There will be opportunity to grab a coffee, have a yarn and catch-up, beat that mate at 500, sit around the camp-fire and/or play some backyard sport (we have lots of sporting equipment!).
The costs are set as low as possible. Included: All accommodation, all food (breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner & supper) and a full kids team/program. We have only placed a minimal mark-up on adult prices to help account for payment towards the volunteer kids team & to discount kids prices. (Please note kids 0-2: are free).
We don't want finances to be an issue for anyone or stop people from missing out on such a fantastic weekend. The benefit of a weekend away like this for our whole church family at HBC:LakeMac will be well worth the financial costs. For those of you who might struggle financially - please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org or touch base with one of the pastors.
The site has 270 beds. A common room contains 6 beds (bunks) and an ensuite.
There is also 10 rooms of lodge accommodation. These include: 4x Double, Bunk, Single & Ensuite | 4x Twin & Ensuite | 2x Double, Single & Ensuite. The lodge style accommodation costs $15 extra per adult / per night.
If you are really keen to camp, the cost is the same - but it can be worked out.
Given the smaller size of our HBC:LakeMac congregation we should be able to place all families in rooms comfortably.
Here is our suggestion...
If this is the big reason you are hesitating to sign-up.
Flag on the comment section if you have a preference or concern
We will be chatting with everyone about this!
If you are not convinced or still don't feel loved and looked after, we will refund the money for the weekend.
The earlier people can sign-up the more time it helps us in placing people and loving those with particular health or social concerns about the weekend.
What’s the plan for the kids?
We want everyone to be down at Toukley for the first session Friday night - so for those who attend RUSH or YOUTH we would recommend this crew just coming straight down to Toukley with their families.
There will also be Kids Team Leaders who will lead and run the entire kids program over the weekend. During the night sessions these guys will be monitoring kids who have already been put to bed, putting kids to bed at certain times (as per parents request), running activities for those kids who are still awake (there will also be a crying room hooked up to the audio for those parents who want to stay with their child and listen to the talks). Saturday and Sunday mornings these teams will be running a full four hour block full of Bible Teaching, fellowship and fun activities.
What should I do now?
Pray: That God would use this weekend away to help us drag Jesus back to the centre of our lives and grow together as a family of believers at HBC: LakeMac.
Chat: If you're not sure or have any questions let any of the pastors know.
