For years, we've been asking God to save people in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

we're now ready to plant a HBC congregation near the lake.

It's kicking-off on August 21st at Eleebana Public School at 4.30pm.

Are you interested in being involved?

For the sake of the lost

Jesus told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest field.' Luke 10:2

WHY Start another church?

Some people might think it's strange to start a new church... aren't there enough already? Don't people already have churches to go to?

But our desire is to reach the people of the Lake Mac area... most of whom don't go to church and don't know Jesus as their Lord. Even if every church in the Lake Mac area had 500 people (!!), only 10% of the Lake Mac population would be represented. Since the average Australian church size is about 60 people, there's thousands of people who remain lost.

Our firm conviction is that everyone is lost without Jesus. We're praying that God would use us, and you, to bring more people to know and trust Jesus in the Lake Mac area.

Hunter Bible Church

Since 1989, Hunter Bible Church has been gathering around God's word and inviting everyone and anyone to come and check out Jesus with us. We started as a small group of Christians at Newcastle Uni, and by God's grace we've grown ever since. Check out our story.

We have three (soon four) Sunday Congregations; 10am at Lambton, 4:30pm at Lambton, 7pm at Newcastle University. Check out our location and service times.

We are an Independent Church, which just means that even though we love Anglican, Presbyterian, Baptist and Uniting Churches - we're our own Incorporated Association. Check out our Statement of Beliefs (TLDR; "Reformed, Evangelical, Conservative"). We're part of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches.

We have a Pastoral Team who are committed to faithfully teaching the bible, prayer for the church & the lost, leading, and equipping Christians in their walk with Jesus and growing his kingdom.

Sundays

Even though the formal-ish part of Sundays starts at 4:30pm, there's usually a bunch of people hanging around chatting before church starts. We meet in the hall at Eleebana Public School. There's parking there and on the street, there's someone standing at the gate to say, "hi," and point you in the right direction.

During the meeting, we hear from various people up the front; they'll read the bible for us, pray, lead singing, explain the bible or just let us know about things going on around church and the local community. If you're visiting, you don't need to worry; we won't ask you to speak or read out loud. You're more than welcome to come and listen. We hope you do.

There's things happening for the kids too. They'll be in age appropriate classes for some of the time - playing games, doing activities and learning from the bible too. We think it's really important that kids have a great time learning about Jesus at church with the adults.

After the formal-type bit (which is pretty relaxed), many people like to hang around for some snacks and keep chatting.

We'd love you to come and join us one Sunday.

More than Sundays

We believe that church isn't a building or club... it's a group of people; people who know each other, encourage each other and help each other live for Jesus together. That means church doesn't just happen on Sundays. Those relationships and encouragements should keep happening throughout the week.

The Connect Series

This is a series of 5 nights where you get to meet a few HBC regulars, some of the Pastoral Team, and really get to know us. The series is designed to help you get a clear idea of what we're passionate about as a church, what it will look like to be part of it, and what we don't want to be. They're all really important things!

People who've done the Connect Series keep telling us how much it helped them feel like part of our church so quickly. See more info about The Connect Series.

The Life Series

For many people, Jesus doesn't make heaps of sense. Even people who've grown up going to church... they don't feel they have a good grasp of what Jesus stands for - or what it looks like to follow him. The Life Series is all about Jesus... the real Jesus we read about in the bible.

Over 5 relaxed nights, over dessert and great conversations, we lay it all out for you. What did Jesus really say? Can you trust the bible? What does it all mean? It's laid-back and there's no such thing as a silly question... or an awkward one! See more details about The Life Series and let us know if you're interested in coming.

Growth Groups

Jesus never intended Christians to go it alone, rather we're meant to teach one another, encourage one another and keep one another following Jesus. Growth Groups are meant for just that. They are weekly small groups of HBC members who gather to study God's word and encourage each other to follow it.

We'd love every one at HBC to commit to being part of a Growth Group. The best way to join a group is through The Connect Series.

t-SHIRTS

As we kick-off, we want to make a big thing of it! Jesus is awesome and starting a new congregation around Jesus is worth being excited about.

The t-shirts are just a small way to help make that happen.

If you're going to pick one up at one of our lunches, or from the HBC Hub, pay for it here and we can give it to you there.
